Veteran guard Shaq Mason will be released by the Houston Texans, according to multiple reports Friday.
Mason, 32, was set to make $10 million in 2025 and $10.4 million in 2026.
If his release is designated as a post-June 1 cut, the Texans would clear more than $9.4 million in salary cap space as opposed to $2.1 million with more than $10 million in dead money.
Mason started all 35 games with the Texans, who acquired him from the Buccaneers before the 2023 season.
A fourth-round pick of the New England Patriots in the 2015 NFL Draft, Mason appeared in 152 games (147 starts) with the Patriots (2015-2021), Tampa Bay (2022) and Houston.
