George Mason coach Tony Skinn lands contract extension

George Mason men’s basketball coach Tony Skinn received a contract extension on Thursday that spans through the 2028-29 season.Financial terms were not disclosed by the school for Skinn, who last season led his alma mater to a 20-12 record in his first campaign at the helm.”We are committed to Tony and excited about the success our men’s basketball program accomplished on and off the court in his first season as our head coach,” said Marvin Lewis, assistant vice president/director of athletics.”Tony has displayed the ability to recruit top-tier talent — but more importantly, he has demonstrated he can effectively lead our program. We value his genuine commitment to our student-athletes and are confident that those personal qualities are essential to creating transformational experiences.”Skinn, 41, spent the 2022-23 season as an assistant coach at Maryland under Kevin Willard, with whom he was an assistant at Seton Hall from 2018-21. Skinn was an assistant at Ohio State for the 2021-22 season.
